In order to secure the means of living with the polished capabilities, and action; YK-LIBRA has focused to strengthen the livelihood options through various need-based activities for the community including vulnerable section. YK-LIBRA is working for “On-farm Livelihood” for the larger section of the community engaged in agriculture activities. Have developed good agricultural practices for identified crops for better yield, reduction in cost, productivity enhancement and risk mitigation. Focus is given on local value addition of the produce for new livelihood opportunities along with development of the local economy. Similarly, YK-LIBRA has concentrated on the “Off-farm Livelihood” by introducing activities like mushroom cultivation, back-yard poultry, small scale poultry unit etc. This approach not only enhanced the skill and knowledge about new enterprises but also has helped for the additional income for the households as well as for engagement of the family members in the economic activities. There are many households who are landless and hardly dependent on agriculture activities. The organization has touched such households by promoting “Non-farm Livelihood” with the activities like tailoring, applique making, cloth/leather bag preparation, mini processing units like dal, oil, flour etc. Marketing is a prominent activity to promote any business. YK-LIBRA is engaged with SHGs, FIGs, FPOs to facilitate both backward and forward market linkages to ensure getting quality inputs at reasonable price and on time. It also ensures to explore a better market to fetch a good price for the produce/value added products of these institutions. Institutional Building Services is a key aspect for the sustainable livelihood promotion of a particular area. Organization has upgraded the skills of farmers, artisans and entrepreneurs through various training and capacity building program; enabling to expand the different horizons of employment opportunities. In time interval, many localized institutions like SHGs, FIGs, FPOs are made to unite the vested group in one forum for better output of work. Organization has designed training materials for capacity building of local intuitions and provided training and handholding support for the effective functioning of these institutions. With support of NABARD, BKSL, SFAC, NAFED and other agencies many livelihood works are done in 5 States namely Odisha, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh,Nagaland West Bengal covering 15 Districts, 41 Blocks and 280 villages with 13,200 Households.
